ABOUT THE ARTIST AND HER ART

Linda Theobald grew up in the beautiful small coastal town of Pass Christian, Mississippi, and graduated from the University of Southern Mississippi with a degree in art. She began her career as an illustrator for the U.S. government, first at Keesler Air Force Base in Biloxi, but later went on to take a work assignment overseas in Germany that lasted eight years. After returning from Germany, Linda began working for NASA in Huntsville, Alabama, first as a conceptual artist depicting spacecraft from engineers' designs, and later designing space-theme exhibits for museums and traveling displays. She returned to her beloved Mississippi Gulf Coast in 1996, and today is the Public Affairs Officer for NASA Stennis Space Center.

Over the past ten years since returning to Mississippi, Linda has been drawing and painting the towns and landmarks of this beautiful area where she grew up and claims as her heritage. Her medium is pen and ink and watercolor, and the average time to create the original artwork for each of the towns in her series is 100 hours.

Prior to beginning the drawing, Linda extensively researches the area, and then selects the landmarks and customs to depict that make a place special - its personality. Her depictions are much like portraits of the towns and cities.
